A brief Note

I would very much like to spend a weekend writing. Just writing. Which is why I took myself off facebook. HOPEFULLY, I will be able to get some work done.

I have one idea for a story that I’ve wanted to write for years! NOW I think I have the key to ‘finding’ my leading man character.

Once upon a time, I didn’t know which end of a computer was what and thought a WEB SITE was a place that hadn’t seen a duster in some time. Now, I wouldn’t know what to do without this thing! HOPEFULLLY, there will be peace at work and I’ll get through the night quickly and be home.

I wonder if I can start a story here? Will see tonight!

Not Enough Hours in the weekend (Remorse of an internet junkie)

Ever have so many things to do on any given weekend that you wish those two days were actually five or six days long?  Then, you get to the weekend and you end up doing something you hadn’t planned on doing and the other things you wanted to do end up getting pushed into the background until hours before the weekend is over and either they don’t get done or only HALF of what you wanted to do?
That pretty much sums up most of my weekends.  I stay up late….REALLY late on Fridays, and then sleep in late on Saturday, which messes up my schedule and I don’t end up coming to church.

Then, there’s the net, which is a huge part of the reason I end up getting to bed late.  There was a time where I didn’t know how to work a computer and I got along fine.  Then, I took a computer class and that resulted in learning so much!  It opened up a whole new world!  I made some amazing discoveries just in time, and then, after a while, got myself my first laptop computer, with my mom’s help.  That’s all well and good, but with the internet, I find myself so easily distracted!  I was so sure I’d get so much more writing done if I didn’t have this technological monkey on my back. I used to be able to write, when I just had my typewriter. I could go hours, if a story caught me. NOW…. it’s bits and pieces of everything and all of nothing.  There are even days when I want to unplug this drug and just write.  The great thing about the computer is that I don’t need White Out to correct mistakes. Editing is SOOOOO much easier.  And if I

need to do research, that is infinitely easier.  But the same blessing, for ‘research’ is also a curse when it comes to making it just about impossible to get to what needs to be done. There’s Facebook and Myspace and by the time we realize we’ve spent the day doing nothing, it’s almost too late in the day to do what NEEDS to get done.
